The Stockton Boulevard Partnership is actively and aggressively working with law enforcement to make our area a safer place to work and shop. The Stockton Boulevard Partnership contracts with Paladin Private Security to provide loitering and trespassing enforcement. Paladin is the uniformed eyes and ears on the Boulevard for the Stockton Boulevard Partnership; disrupting the pattern and behavior of potential criminal activities, by recognizing, recording, and reporting all suspicious activity.
The Safety on Stockton (S.O.S.) Committee meets once a month on the first Thursday at 12:00noon with the local law enforcement agencies; the Sacramento City Police, Sacramento County Sheriff, California Highway Patrol, Sacramento County Prosecutor, Sacramento County Code Enforcement, and UC Davis Police. Discussion include how property owners can support law enforcement and methods to improve safety and security at individual properties.
Sacramento County District Attorney Community Prosecutor, Sacramento City and County Neighborhood Services and SMUD also comes to the table to discuss safety and security issues, updates on program opportunities and projects.
Some implemented solutions include adding correct "customer parking only" signage for improved enforcement, adding chain-offs at prioritized parking entrances, holding business-watch training, installing Crime Watch Zone signage and taking as inventory of street lights to report burn-outs for maintenance.
The Stockton Boulevard Partnership is also working with local Problem Oriented Police (POP) officers to plan long term security and safety solutions-all in an effort to improve the overall safety of Stockton Boulevard.

For nearly seven years, Patrol Officers from Paladin Private Security have been providing patrol services for the Stockton Blvd. Partnership with a focus on mitigating so-called “nuisance crimes” to aid in freeing law enforcement resources for more sinister crimes in our neighborhood. The program has grown substantially over the years. Initially, the service provided 40 weekly patrol hours. Today, Paladin officers are touring our community for over 160 hours per week. To date, Paladin officer have responded to over 1,500 calls for service by local merchants and patrons. This is 1,500 calls that would have otherwise removed our valuable Police and Sheriff resources from their enforcement activities.
Your patrol officers are available between 9am and 9pm daily to answer calls regarding suspicious persons, trespassers or other conditions which may impede your business or customers. Officers Sault, Duncan, Morris and Harmon are committed to working in partnership with you and encourage you to call upon their services. Paladin dispatch can be reached at any time at 916-331-3175. When you call, please be ready to provide your name, call-back number, address, business name, a description of the event you are calling about, and a description of any person(s) you are calling about. This information is important to assist officers in quickly responding to and addressing your concerns.
A recent example of the success of this patrol occurred just last week. While on patrol, Paladin officers in the area were flagged down at the Big O Tire store on Stockton just north of Fruitridge. First to arrive at a multiple stabbing incident, the two Paladin officers detained the suspects, confiscated weapons, called in medical assistance, and controlled the crime scene until Sacramento Police arrived. With the help of the SPB patrol in the form of Paladin Security, Sacramento Police were able to take a few more bad guys of the streets.

Streetscape Improvements along the corridor brighten the Boulevards appearance. The Stockton Blvd project brought 100 new palms, new medians, curbs, gutters and sidewalks on both sides of Stockton all the way from Broadway to 65th Street. This landscaping project was funded by contributions from the City of Sacramento, Sacramento County, Sacramento Housing and Redevelopment Agency, and the Stockton Boulevard Partnership.
With the help of Sacramento Regional Transit District, trash can receptacles were installed at each bus stop as well as various locations along the Blvd. This helps maintain our clean sidewalks and streets by giving pedestrians a place to disgard trash
Have you noticed the cleanliness of Stockton Boulevard lately? That's because of our cleanup and maintenance crew headed by Hilary Gould (former County Neighborhood Services Representative and volunteer). The hard working crew is assigned to pick up litter along the boulevard daily between 7:00am and 3:00pm.
Stockton Boulevard and Oak Park PBIDs was selected to participate in the Sacramento Small Business Energy Makeover. This was a unique, limited-time opportunity for business owners and managers to learn how energy efficiency could save money and the environment.
The goal of the Energy Makeover was to encourage small businesses to easily achieve about 15 to 20 percent in energy savings with retrofits by taking advantage of available energy efficiency rebates and incentives.
Last September, energy and water efficiency experts offered FREE surveys at business along Stockton Blvd and in the Oak Park Business Corridor to identify easy, low cost ways to reduce electricity and water bills. SMUD and the Sacramento Department of Utilities surveyed businesses, offering recommendations, and provided information about rebates that could cover up to 70 percent of the cost of energy and water efficiency retrofits. The PBID helped arrange for contractors to complete the installation.
The Sacramento Small Business Energy Makeover was offered solely to members of the Stockton Boulevard and Oak Park PBID within the Sacramento city limits.
The Sacramento Small Business Energy Makeover is a special pilot program brought to you by the California Air Resources Board, the City of Sacramento and SMUD.
